Cairns Taxis has been part of the Far North Queensland community for almost sixty years, being established in 1966 following the merger of Blue and White Taxis and Black and White Taxis. Merging these companies meant bringing together all cars under a united fleet.
Today Cairns Taxis is recognised as one of the leading Taxi companies in Australia, from a small beginning in 1966 to now operating a fleet go 137 vehicles across the region. Our business has shown consistent growth and resilience, having a strong local footprint, with the taxi licenses alone representing an investment of more than $70 million in the Cairns Region
Our Purpose
Remaining consistent since day one, Cairns Taxis exists to provide safe, reliable and professional transport for locals, visitors, businesses and government. We are more than a transport service, Cairns taxis is an essential part of Tropical North Queensland. Supporting locals people with everyday travel, hospital appointments and connections to the wider community.
As our city has grown, so has Cairns Taxis. We now cover an area stretching from Wright’s Creek in the south to Simpson Point in the North and out west to the Henry Ross Lookout. This reach allows us to serve a diverse range of passengers from international tourists, people living with disabilities needing wheelchair accessible vehicles, through to long standing locals.

Cairns Taxis offers a wide range of services to ensure we meet the needs of the local community.
Taxi Fleet: 137 cars providing 24/7 transport for locals and visitors. Supporting people living with disabilities, tourists and locals heading to work or appointments.
Call Centre: Our 24 hour Call Centre based in Cairns that handles not only Taxi bookings but also offers after hours calls and overflow calls for government contracts and other organisations. All calls being answered by locally trained staff, we never outsource.
Top Rank Auto: Our mechanical workshop That services the taxi fleet as well as community vehicles, employed apprentices and supports career development in the automotive trade.
Community Services: Transport for NDIS clients, elderly residents and people with mobility needs. We work closely with agencies to ensure safe and affordable travel options for vulnerable community members.
Our People Cairns Taxis strengths lie within our people. We employ a large diverse team across management, administration, Call Centre operations, mechanics and drivers.
Having staff members who have recently celebrated 25 & 30 year anniversaries, showing a hive of loyalty that is rare in todays workforce. Out CEO, Bob Epps and Operations Manager Peter Humphries lead with heart and humility, focusing on the strengths of individuals and helping them grow through mentoring, coaching and opportunity. This style of leadership ensures that people are supported not just as employees but as individuals.
Apprenticeship and development programs such as life coaching, are a key part of how Cairns Taxis manage people. Young workers receive hands on training alongside senior staff, while also being encouraged to complete formal qualifications. This particular combination of practical experience and educational support creates well rounded professionals.
We also recognise the importance of flexible working arrangements for Veterans, parents and those transitioning from other careers or home environments are supported with options that work for them. Community Impact Cairns Taxis has always been deeply invested in the local community, sponsoring sporting clubs, support local charities, and take part in major events like the Cairns Show. Our newly introduced annual Charity Golf Day will be raising funds for the COUCH Cancer Wellness Centre, providing vital services for locals affected by cancer.
We are proud to have introduced policies and standards that have been adopted beyond Cairns. Our dress standards and code of ethics were once adopted by the State of Victoria and our operating procedures have been replicated in other cities. This demonstrates our role as a leader not just in Cairns but within the taxi industry nationally.

Peter Humphreys has been an integral part of the RAD Connect team at Cairns Taxis for 22 years and 7 months. Starting his career with us, Peter has ascended the ranks to become the RAD Connect Manager.
